my son was pulling a vertical till and he lost all gears except for 2nd,looks like oil is coming out of the bottom of the housing where theres a inspection hole. hi or low range doesn't matter. no reverse just 2nd. any ideas would be greatly appreciated..

Nut come off front planetary carrier or pulled end off of it. A complete rebuild. MACK

Is this common for the power shift trans?
Wasn't there a better fix to prevent it from happening again? (like weld the nut?)

No good reason for it to happen. Have saw them tear nut lock off, have saw more than one pull hub into just behind nut with nut still locked on. MACK

When I assemble one, I use Loctite on the nut and then stake it with a center punch really good one time at the keyway. If I ever have to take it back apart I which I never have) I'll split the nut with a sharp chisel.

We had the exact same issue on our 8050 this spring. We're lucky enough to have an AC mechanic with all the specialty tools and knowledge. We supplied all the labor. Cost less than $500 for parts but many hours of free labor.

I'm afraid that Mack is correct on this problem. You can confirm this by taking the valve body,behind the batteries,off of the tractor and use a pry bar under the front clutch pack to see if it's loose. I like to have the tractor in a position where it can be split before I even take the valve body off. Duals off and rear wheels moved out are a plus for this job. Fuel out too.
