This is just a heads up for those with a 7040, 7050 or 7060  with the Deluxe Cloth seat and are in need of a new seat shock.

The shock for my deluxe cloth seat in my 7060 went south some time ago. It is a shock without the spring and ASAP tells me that it is no longer available. Part # 70262909

I found that a Gabriel 83012 is a pretty good match on physical dimensions so I ordered one. It is a heavy duty shock for big rig cab mounts. The rubber mounts on this shock do not have a metal insert in the rubber mount bushing like the original 7060 shock and the hole is closer to 1/2", too large for the original bolts. The rubber bushing is also a little too wide for the original mounting plates so some modifications were in order.

I pressed the metal bolt bushings out of the original shock and with a little lubrication they fit in the new shock's bushing with little effort. Using a box cutter, I shaved a little of the rubber bushing off each side so the bushing was the same width as the metal bolt bushing that I took from the original shock.

A test drive after mounting the shock proved it to be an excellent replacement for the original shock. It changes the ride that only had the springs that allowed the seat to bottom out on every bump to a comfortable ride that would not bottom out on the travel and was very "spongey" but controlled.
