Ok guys.... so I am looking for another opinion, I guess. Can I wire LED lights into a positive ground tractor? I think that i should be able to, as long as I just hook it up so that the positive side of the light is connected to the 'ground'.... right?

(I am wiring a (gasp! OuchConfusedBig smileLOL) JD 630 for a friend, and I was thinking about replacing some of the rusted lights with LED as opposed to original, but I figured that I should make sure that it will work before I ask him and see what he wants.... )

Thanks!
Ben

As long as the led light has two wires and you observe the positive voltage going to the positive wire on the light so if you have a positive ground on the tractor you connect the positive wire on the light to the frame ground on the tractor.  You should be good.

That's kinda what I thought...thanks for second opinion, much appreciated.

I did some looking around and confused myself, but I just realized a moment ago that they were talking about putting a LED 1157 (or whatever) into a socket with a pos ground, it wouldn't work.

OK, one option that will work, is to 'float' the light base. If you electrically isolate the metal base THEN you can run LEDs on a +ve gnd tractor. I use 1/2" 'plastic' though rubber works fine. The 'trick' is to be sure the light base doesn't connect to the tractor.

Good idea... If I ever need to run a LED into a base I will have to try that.

Thanks,
Ben
