Subject: One-Sixty Exhaust Manifold Question
Date Posted: 24 Apr 2018 at 8:20am
I'm looking for a replacement exhaust manifold for my one-sixty (Perkins AD3.152 engine). I'm going with a vertical exhaust. All of the manifolds I see on-line are for Massey Ferguson tractors. Anybody have experience with particular parts for this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

look on agco parts books online nad get the part number for the one on the 160, and get the part number for one on a massey that used the 152, and see if those numbers cross to the same part number.

Thanks for the help. I poked around both parts books and this is what I found:
Part number from the One-Sixty is 72080342. The part number for Massey Ferguson appears to be 736298M1.
Is there somewhere I need to look to determine if these two part numbers are equivalent?

just a google search may find someone who crosses them. A quick call to an agco dealer may see if they cross to a new common number.

best I can remember from my 160s the early models had a 2 bolt flange and the later ones had a 3 bolt which is the same pattern as the MF 135 HOWEVER the 160 had a side discharge and a top discharge opening for the exhaust piece that the muffler bolts to and the 135 manifold exits the BOTTOM... :-( Someone here ask if the manifold could be flipped... don't know ...

I looked around net, have not found the exact exhaust manifold. The 160 hood flips up, so the exhaust elbow gets the muffler out and away from the hood.
From the Massey Ferguson world, it looks like the manifold from the 250 or 20C diesel tractor may work. Cheap and I think the cast iron elbows are also available. However, the muffler would be relocated fwd some.
I think Perkins has dropped support of this engine, at least from my serial number, they said too old, don't know nothing about it.

I think the only way I'm going to find out for sure is to pull the trigger on the one that looks like it will work and see if it actually does.

The older two bolt manifold looks just like the manifold for the MF 2244 Crawler, p/n 977595M1. We need to find the Perkins Guru. I am sure they had a wide variety of exhaust manifolds available. Also intake manifolds , oil filter bases, and water pumps. But where is the expert?

Just did this on my 160 a year ago. I replaced the manifold with a side discharge manifold from a Massey. Then flipped it over so that the elbow ( purchased separately ) would point up. I didn't want to cut my hood so I made a flat plat that was 1 inch thick to space the elbow out. All works fine. If you need I'll try to take some pictures this weekend. Here is where I got the parts http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/store/model_parts.cgi?SearchArea=Massey-Ferguson&md=135&cat=Exhaust%20System" rel="nofollow - http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/store/model_parts.cgi?SearchArea=Massey-Ferguson&md=135&cat=Exhaust%20System (Part No: 740221M1) and then (Part No: 1693855M1) As I said this set up will be too short to clear your hood so space out the second part to create whatever clearance you want. I had to flip the first part to have the three bolt flange the allow the elbow to point up. I made my spacer from aluminum. The whole thing works fine and looks good too.
