Does anyone know if this series was known for weak pto clutches? I have looked at 3 that said the pto was weak, not sure what they meant?

Yup, and I think the tractor has to be split under the platform to repair it.

Put many thousand hours on ours blowing silage, running big manure spreader, cutting and baling hay with no clutch trouble. The brake can cause trouble if shut off at high speed.

Do the brakes work? Its been 30+ years since I was around them. If memory is right--the wet brakes go out, everything in the tranny, rear end, hyd system is effected. Somebody correct me if this is not right.

Jordan - yes I know and you are right about the PTO brake. I am communicating about the foot brakes. If I "remember" right they are built inside the rear end housing. When they go bad the worn linings take out everything inside the housing. The older I get, the worse the memory gets. I do know it happened to FIL's. Like I said-- if this is not right someone else please respond.

Show me a tractor with hydraulic brakes not inside the rear housing.
They require hydraulic brake OIL, if one uses regular brake fluid and it leaks in contaminating the system then yes, bad things happen.
