anybody have the specs on the lift capacity on a 445 loader. I'm selling my d14 and a person asked if the loader would lift large round bales? I only used the 3pt for lifting bales, so I don't know....thanks dt...

We have an Allis Chalmers 417 loader on our D17 that we used to move round bales. I was told the 445 is basically the same loader designed for a Allis Chalmers WD45. I bought a 4 row Allis Chalmers cultivator from Ted who loaded it with his WD45, 445 loader. My educated guess is the loader will handle it, but not sure if the D14 has the hydraulics for it. Is the pump mounted to the front, or is is plumbed into the tractor hydraulics? Also not sure if the front axle on a D14 is designed for that much weight (~1000 lbs)

I would be more concerned about the front end of the D14 being able to support the weight of the loader AND the round bale. Back then, these tractors were not designed to have heavy loaders hanging off the front, let alone 1000 pound bales.

Lift it yes, safely no.Back in the day the loaders made for that tractor had a 3ft. manure or a larger snow bucket which when fill would never equal that weight. Break a front spindle while moving forward and only bad things will happen.

I'd say it would handle most round bales with a bale spear on he front.It'd probably need more weight on the rear which can be provided with a bale spear on the rear.Just have to be careful. which is always a good idea.

I told them it probly would, but the tires ain't loaded so you won't get any traction.
