How fine is it chopping? Is it a 540 or 1000 rpm PTO? Sounds like your not getting enough rpms out of the cylinder or the knives are wore to the point they wont throw the silage which I've never seen. Are they the correct cut and throw knives?

A little rust on the head and chute will cause that. Old Oliver had to be run over a few acres and get it slicked up. After that it was ok till next year when we had to do it all over again.

Ran one of those choppers for years. First, you have to keep in mind it is a cut and throw machine. It does not blow forage into wagon. It should handle corn silage without a lot of trouble, but haylage was always a different matter. If you have the operators manual it describes how to set the deflection pan to aim the throw of material at the best angle to get the best throw through the chute to the wagon. When chopping light haylage you had to try for every advantage to load the rear of wagons. As I stated, I never had trouble with corn silage, but after eliminating any obvious defects this is an adjustment I would be looking at.

I have an operators manual for the 720 forage harvester and another
operators manual for the corn head attachment for the 720.
$25.00 for both includes shipping.
