John Mrotek and his brother each had large collection of Allis Chalmers tractors (mostly <60 HP including many G's) that was sold this past weekend in MN. Anyone know how things sold; buy anything. Herb(GA)

I stood near the man who bought the road grader. I know about what he paid. I thought most everything was priced pretty low but most restores were old and others were just dipped in paint a long time ago. I think these brothers were collecting long before collecting tractors was in vogue so before restoring got real serious. The D21 went for $14500 and was not bad looking. Had a couple minor issues like the adjusting cranks on 3-point broken off. The D14 was pretty nice and IMO went far too cheap at $1500. The WD re powered with a Chevy 283 went for $3100 or there about. I thought that was kinda high but it was a nice looking unit.

One down fall of that auction was they had a buyers premium of 15% on site and 20% online which online i can see. Think that hurt some prices. But thats the name of the game

Yep, I never read the bill. Just showed up and didn't realize the 314 I bought cost me almost $50 more than I bid . I guess I got to start paying attention. It was a first for me to pay a buyers fee.

I bought several of the tractors, including a model U, and the 20-35.
I also bought the threshing machine, the grain truck, and in a face palm moment, I ended up with the MG kit car. But I think I already have it sold....

I bought the first one, and was backup man on the second one - tell your uncle i'm sorry!
I didn't look at the one I bought before hand, but for $700.00 ($805 with buyers fee!), I now own a model U. They said it ran. Did you notice anything major wrong or missing on the U that I purchased?

I also bought the one row silage chopper with the auxiliary motor mounted on it. Did anyone see it running before the auction? They said it ran.......
We are going to have a fall field day next year and that thing would be fun to pull behind a WC or something.

BTW my uncle had just been telling me that at age 81 he was going to reduce his collection...... then he bid on a couple B's, a CA, that U, and one or two other tractors but got none. He must have around 30 or 40 tractors himself.

I don't think there was anything wrong, I just didn't get a chance to look at anything in person, so I wondered if anything jumped out at you as being missing. Im restoring an old 1948 Dodge grain truck that we bought new when my great uncles were also Dodge dealers. It is a litter mate to the one I bought at the sale.

Doesn't sound like it paid for John to truck all his stuff to Minn. for the auction that had to cost a good amount.

Good looking truck!
I've decided that is what I'm going to do with the MG kit car I bought at his auction - paint the fenders, etc, Persian orange, leave the body cream colored, and put a AC emblem and Wise Bros name on the doors?
