Found a allis 615 with a gas motor, has mounting brackets for a backhoe, arms for three point hitch, and a 21 spline PTO shaft. Currently has a weight box on the back. Is this a 1000 rpm for running a backhoe attachment or a 540 that somebody has changed out? I've never seen a 21 spline on a gas tractor this small.

If you want a man to be a successful farmer, give him a Allis Chalmers tractor. If you want him to be a successful mechanic, give him a John Deere

I have the same set up with an I 600. The backhoe mounting brackets are a standard part of the loader frame. To mount a factory backhoe, the casting that holds the PTO and the 3 pt hitch has to be removed and the a cover plate installed. It will become a 'bareback' tractor. The PTO has 21 splines but is actually 780 rpm on tractors equipped with a 'shuttle'. This is because the base tractor was designed as a D-15 farm tractor and with the two speed Hi/Lo 'power director' the PTO is standard 540. Shuttle is achieved by reversing the low speed clutch pack with the weird PTO speed a result.

My PTO shaft is 21 spline on my Allis HD4 dozer. I wonder if anyone has ever found a adapter that is 21 spline on the female end and the modern type 6 spline male found today ? I would like to mount a post hole drill on the back of the dozer.

Common adaptor that most farm dealerships will have.
