Slightly off topic, but has anyone heard of putting a loader on a G? There is one coming up at auction this weekend a few miles north of me. So says the auction bill in the newspaper.

Very possible, but it isn't an Allis loader, the one from Midwest is the only one I've ever seen. This one belongs to our own Herb Metz

Nice setup. I found the auction web page and it has oodles of pictures. Unfortunately there are no picts of any AC equipment. I'm wondering if the bill has a typo.

Doug, you will be kicking yourself if you don't go, and later find out the ad was correct. Thanks Joe for posting your good photo; I notice some wood chips still in the scoop. The primary thing that I have used it for is distributing wood chips. Midwest made these loaders in Camanche Iowa for a fertilizer company that sold dry bulk fertilizer. Herb(GA)

Here's a picture of the G. Looks like it hasn't been taken care of. No sign of a loader either.

Doug, a loader removed from a G is a low profile implement, especially if the bucket has been removed (two pins). Evidence of a loader is the rectangular hydraulic oil tank in it's usual position just below the steering wheel; and the filler pipe and cap welded on top; also the V-belt (laying on the seat) for powering the hydraulic pump. There should be a V-belt pulley secured to the PTO or to the engine crankshaft. Check other buildings, fencerows, under trees, etc as that G had a loader (or some such hydraulic powered implement) mounted to it sometime in it's life. Wish I was there to help you hunt for it. Happy Hunting. Herb(GA)

It had one, you can see the upright mounts inside the tires, like Herb said, bet it's laying somewhere!

Look how that G has been shortened up. There was one like that with a loader at Hutch this year.

So it becomes a loader tractor and can't be used for anything else.

The reason for the 27"(?) shortening was to improve their maneuverability in unloading a railroad boxcar. To restore a G to original dimensions requires lengthening the two 3" (?)diameter frame shafts and the steering column (steering shaft and the steering sleeve). If this G has been shortened one can conclude it has not seen much normal use. Call me if you have any questions. 678-947-6987 or 678-232-3905 Herbert Metz, retired near Cumming, GA, bought my G & loader from Chuck Felger, Keokuk, IA

Too much paint. That tells me they're trying to gloss over something. If I wanted a clean one I'd take the one in the first picture that JoeM posted here.
