I noticed this HD11B for sale. What do you think of track condition? I got it wrong last time I asked but,.... in this picture the tensioner for  the tracks looks way out , as far as it can go.

imo hard to tell from the picture, its too far away.  its got the long track so it looks way out there but may not be.  really need to base it off of where it sits on the truck frame which you cant see from here

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to buy that dozer. It has been off and on for sale for 2 years now. He won't answer his ads. The ad says it will run if jump started.

It has the longer 8 bottom roller trucks, need to measure the rails for wear on pins/bushings measure across five pins, any five pins same edge to same edge and divide by four, if greater than 7.125 they are pretty well at Zero left. There are other measurements, sprocket wear, wear on the running surface of rails, wear on idlers but all together mean little if the rails are already worn thin.

That track is to tight looking from the picture. But there are reasons that would make it ok,if it was driven back wards to where it sits slack would be on the bottom. A inch to 1 1/2 inches is normal amount of sag in a track between support.

Running them tight may help keep them from coming off,but also increases the ware.

One option, I missed the 953 rails, another got them as I could not afford the price on that previous page. The cat 6.906 rails have a smaller diameter bushing and with sprocket wear along with used chain wear may fit well enough to an older machine yet will have to adjust the number of segments to fit your tractor. Rollers are another concern though as Cat rollers will not directly bolt up to a AC machine, trucks have to be dismantled and re-drilled and ground out to use them. This size rail is common to a great deal of Cats but shoes could be a problem as to width, may have to have them cut to fit against a Allis tractor.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to buy this machine. It's been advertised on CL off and on for about 2 years. Every 6 months or so he relists and drops the price about $500.00. Never answers the ad.

Maybe a case of the wife asking when he's gonna get rid of that old pile of crap.  "I've got an ad on CL!"
