Its been a while since I have been on here so here is a quick reintroduction and a question:
I'm a Marine in 29 Palms about 2 years from retirement, and we will be heading to Alabama for the next life.  I grew up in western Nebraska on a corn, dry bean, and beet farm and we were always Allis people.
We just spent two weeks back home and although we quit farming when I was 17, my dad continues to haul for farmers and keeps a couple of tractors around.  One is a worthless IH 706 that needs set on fire, the other is a 7580 with a blade he uses to clear snow and pull his trucks up the drive if they are having trouble and what I think is a 1937 WC he just picked up.  I am including a couple of pictures since I'm not quite sure if my date and model IDs are correct.  Dad is getting up there and not able to work on things like he used to so I will try and get the WC running for him when I retire.  Any help with the ID is appreciated!

Serial number chart makes that a 37 WC.  The unstyled WC is my favorite AC.  Simple and easy to work on.  That one is hand start only, but you can find a bellhousing and flywheel out of a styled WC and make it electric.  Not a bad idea if your dad wants to run it.  Have fun with the rebuild and thank you for your service.

I saw one of those once and wish I had taken pictures of the electric starter set up.

Some one had made a bracket bolted to the frame, the bracket held a normal electric starter with the drive gears removes and a small flat pulley in its place. A flat belt ran from the starter to the belt pulley to start the tractor.

The "Flat Top" 37 WC is the original tractor my father sold when he opened his dealership.  For that reason I always have a special place in my heart for the "Flat Tops"
If you need any help contact Fred Wilke in Hanover PA.  He had a collection of every year WC made, two for 1938 - a Flat Top and a Styled WC.  He even has a 1933 Waukesha WC. The WC along with the B and the All Crop Harvester were the units that made Allis Chalmers farm equipment.
Let us know how it goes.  Have Fun
Thanks for your service.
Good Luck!
