| Has anyone ever put 42 inch rubber on a 210? Or even a D21 or 220. Im thinking about setting my 210 up to side dress corn. I currently have 20.8X38 and will need new rims due to calcium. Trying to get down 30 inch rows. We knife NH3 in the spring before planting but would like to try side dressing with liquid or NH3. |

| I put a lot of 18.4X38's on 21's and 220's over the years. These were used for both primary and side dress applications, along with everything else they did. might be easier to find rims to fit these than try to find centers or spacers for 42" stuff. Good luck with it. |

| What style rim they use? We put step-up rims on jd 5020 to go from 38 to 42. Simple, used same center, worked well. That was double bevel style rim |

| I have a 210 with 18.4-42 tires on set at 30 inch rows. You can't get a step up rim in tight enough on a 210, the 210 is too wide in the a**! I got 42 in rims that fit a new Holland genesis, but any 42 in rim that has the step down bolt ring welded in will work. Take off your 38 in casting set it in the center of the rim and drill the holes to match. Bolt it to the backside of the casting. I made small spacers to clamp in between the rim and the casting, not sure that's needed, but Allis Chalmers has a void in the back and I was afraid the rim would bend. Buy Lawson grade 8 bolts and lock nuts and torque it down tight, and put the cast center back on, now you can push it down to about 62" or it hits the fenders. Had this setup for 25 years now and 0 problems, and it left enough axle hang out we have direct axle Mexican hats with 42" on, makes the tractor a beast |

I was wanting to put 15.5x42's on our 7020 for using the Hardi trailer-type sprayer in 30 in . We currently use 15.5x38's on the 200, but are really short. Really gotta be on your toes not to run over the crop with 18.4's. I was wondering if I could bolt my cast centers right to a rim center. | I have wedge clamps that bolt to the cast center. Are 18.4x38 narrower than 20.8x38? I know they are shorter. KC grain do you have any pictures of your 210? Im confused on drilling new holes. Thought a step up rim and the wedges would bolt to the center. By moving the tire in would I still have room for axle mount duals? |

The 18.4 and 20.8 numbers are the widest width of the tires in inches. so 18.4 is 2.4" narrower than 20.8. Treads are narrower and rims are narrower. Long ago the width number of a tire was actually the rim width but that changed about 1950. Some time ago I put 12.4-42 on my 4020 for side dressing and spraying in place of 18.4-34. The outside diameters were the same, but the narrower tire gave more clearance to the crop rows outside the tires. The closest I could move the 18.4 with a couple inches mud clearance to the ROPS was 64" center to center which set the inside 45.6" apart which straddled a pair of 30" rows safely but the outside was 82.4" giving only 3.8" from the outside face of the tire to the center of the rows (90" apart) which didn't leave much room for corn leaves if I drove perfectly. The outside of the 12.4" with their inside the same 45.6" apart were 70.4" giving 9.8" outside of the tires to the row center. Not perfect, but better for the crop. I sacrificed load capability with the narrow tires. I found rims with flange segments at Colfax Tractor with good tires on them. I made adapters to bolt them to the bolt holes used for the wedges for the 34" rims and they ran truer than the original rims.  Gerald J. |

I had a neighbor few years ago had a 4850 mfwd that sidedressed with 20.8 duals, an I think 16.9 28 on the front, he said you really had to stay awake,,,an really drive good, but it worked I had 18.4's and got along good with them Yep,, them 20.8's will make you a good driver,,,also put 20" sweeps behind the nh3 knife

| Not saying it is fun, but I use 16.9X38's on deep drop double bevel rims on a 190 XTD III to replace the 18.4X34's to side dress 20" rows (yes it is snug but it works). I have in the past with a D17D and 14.9X28's sprayed 15" beans and you were on your toes all the time to avoid the rows (you did clip one from time to time and the beans would get pushed out some by the tire). The 14.9's are nicer for getting down the 20" rows than the 16.9's. The 18.4X42's I would assume come close to the fenders on a 210. The 18.4X38 tires come reasonably close to the D21 fenders, and the 20.8X38 tires are really close from what I've seen. I don't know how much taller the 18.4X42 tires are. |

Ag tire handbooks from Firestone or Titan/goodyear give all the dimensions of tractor tires and list approved rims to fit them. Typically before the new push for low sidewalls, the height of a tractor rear tire cross section is about 70% of the width. So a 20.8 is taller than an 18.4 for the same rim diameter.
