Looking to replace my John Deere 13' bw disc
Use it on about 30 acres or so, fairly rocky ground
Will be pulling it with a 190xt diesel
Looking for a solid unit with parts availability
What are your suggestions thanks

Don't know anything about allis disks but I would say a IH 18 foot 470 would be a nice cheap option if you need a heavy disk and your not plowing or chisel plowing a 480 is a nice heavy disk

to bad they dont make a wishek disk small enough for you thats what we use on heavy rocky soil.

I agree....that if you can't find an AC disk, go with the 470 IH, they are great disks too! I been seeing a lot more die hard green famers now pulling red disks! the IH 480 is a heavier disk and will pull a bit harder, but will really chop and grind that soil up. any one you chose, should be a 9 inch spacing if doing stalks. a 7 inch spaced disk won't go in as deep or grind up the soil unless it's already been plowed or disked once/twice before using it. they do a good job of mixing chemicals in already tilled soils.

also 490 IH and 496 IH disks are good too. I have a 496 and only complaint is they use cast iron holders to hold the scrapers on. they used to be steel and worked great, now they are cast and break a lot. I fought with them, and finally had a welding shop make me steel ones and problem was/has been solved. the Case IH dealer said they sell a lot of them cast iron brackets!

DAD bought a 16' 470 and pulled it with his 190xt, with a new motor and rebuilt fuel system it was all the 190 wanted, it was a great disk.

IMHO, the best Allis disk, would be the 2500 series, but, I don't know if you can find one small enough to pull with your 190XT. Your next best choice, would be an Allis 2300 series. More of a finishing disk, similar to a IH 470, I think. These are also very good disks.

Had a 480 disk, did not do well in rocks, think there are better one.

The only suggestion I have is to buy a disk that will take 150 hp, then you will be "forced" to buy a 7060 or 7080. :)

We have a AC 2300, I think it is 14'. It is a good disc. We have not pulled for several years. Our equipment is much larger and we don't have a need for it. If you could find one in your area I would recommend it. They cut well for there weight and ours kept soil level.
