Hi there. Going through index cards and looking in numerical book as to what they fit. Come across "roto-baler" transfer so I had dad look to see if there's anything in bin, said that there folded up laying in the bottom of bin.
What do you guys do with these old transfers. I was thinking of taking them unfolding and laying them sandwiched between cardboard to keep flat. Think the fold or cress will ever come out.

I'd probably let them get very 'humid' ( not wet ! ) then slooooowly open them up. How slow you have to go ? you should be able to 'feel ', have patience though ! The 'trick' is it has to be 'moist' enough to bend and NOT break the transfer or the backing. They have to go together, that's why they have to be humid,moist and go slow.
Once 'flat' I'd make a 'sandwich' of clean box side, 2-3 layers of papertowels, the transfer, 2-3 layers paper towel, clean box side. Put a weight,maybe 1-2 pounds over the WHOLE area. Check every day or two,when dry replace paper towels with new ones.

a wide putty knife works good to help pull the folds apart, better than using just fingers.

just put them in the bathroom next time you have a hot steamy shower to ease them aching muscles from shovelling the 1/2 dump truck of compost I got the other day and the 'friend' never dropped off the miniex to move it.....
sorry for the rant but after 45 YEARS, I ask the guy for ONE favor...sigh.....
