I have a D17 diesel head with hair line cracks at the hole at the end of the injector tip. Can this be fixed or does it need to be fixed. Thanks for any help.

some one will know but I think on those ,as long as cracks don't go to valve seat you are ok.

Pressure test the head; if the crack(s) don't leak you can repair the cracks ("stake" them?) and/or use the head. Be sure to allow the engine to cool down after running before stopping the engine.

Thanks I will have the head pressure tested and see what happens. This tractor is new to me and was in boxes when I bought it.

Check your sleeve standout. They were known for the sleeves sinking in the block and blowing the gasket. If the sleeves are low, you really need to fix that or you're going to have trouble holding a head gasket.
