I have a 1939 Allis Chalmers B. I have been trying to start the tractor and it does not seem to be getting any fuel to the cylinders. I have checked the timing at least 3 times and it is correct. I have checked the compression on all 4 cylinders and it ranges from 50 lbs to 70 lbs. I am at a loss for what to check next. any ideas.

They tell me an engine won't run on less than 80 pounds.---I don't believe it,---BUT with comp. lower than 80, they won't run very well, ---might also be hard to start unless you pull start them, and not have much power. thanks; ac fleet

50 to 70 lb may not be enough to make enough vacuum to pull gas into the cylinder or may be your intake manifold gaskets are leaking. Randy

Squirt some crankcase oil into the cylinders and do the compression test again. If the pressure goes up that is a sign that the rings are worn giving the low compression. If the pressure doesn't go up that is a sign that the valves are leaking (or head gasket) and that the valves need to be ground.

Hello Shadow Check the carb open the plug or pet cock under carb fuel should run steady for at least 10 sec.. As far as compression it should RUN
