Smoked the AC compressor on my 8030 so I am putting in a Sanden conversion kit. Kit came from Abilene Machine. Kit came with what is described as a "binary" switch - there is an additional manifold that has pressure switch ports on both high side and low side and it came with two pressure switches. Instructions leave a lot to be desired - no identification of which is high side switch and which is low side switch - and there are no wiring instructions either. If anybody has installed one of these before and can "fill in the blanks" for me I'd appreciate it.

I just took the good compressor off my Caddy and put on my 7010 when it locked up. do the 8000 series have GM compressors?

Hi side switch should be on the smaller line from the compressor. Lo side is on the large tube that returns to the compressor.

Yes - but the pressure switches in the kit are the same size and fit the same size ports.

Randy has me straightened out with a picture by PM - Thanks Randy.

I know this is an old post but have same problem with 8050 and cant seem to find anything on hooking up the sanden compressor other then mounting. Can anyone post pics of how it should be wired up?

The switches are just wired in series with the compressor wire. If either switch activates it will stop the compressor

The high side switch, if you check continuity, will be closed (will have continuity). The low side switch, if the system is yet uncharged or if the switch is not installed, will be open (no continuity). The high pressure switch opens if pressure exceeds the set point (325-400 on most). The low side needs atleast so many PSI (normally 6-20), before it will close, so that the pressure won't go too low. When the system is working properly, or at rest, both switches will have continuity. Figure out which is which, install them on the correct lines. Take the compressor latching wire (clutch engagement wire) that comes from the cab, hook it to the high side switch, hook the other side of the high side switch to one of the low side switch wires. Hook the other low side switch wire to the positive(+) clutch engagement wire. You can also do this with a relay (a relay with a resistor or diode), which keeps the load off the in-cab components and pressure switch.
