I'm working on the 12G and it needs the steering bands relined in a bad way. They have bonded linings.  I have a local shop that has done reline work for me in the past but I just about had a heart attack when they quoted this set out.  I'd like to get some additional quotes.  Does anyone have a tried and true reline shop that they'd recommend?

 thanks!

What about used bands? We've put 1000s of hours on our 11Bs and not had to change those. I would think you could find those ,good used cheaper than trying to reline them. I know we must have some good ones in some of our direct drive 11B donor tractors that we have never removed.

I've been looking for a used set that are in good shape.  But the ones I've found thus far weren't in much better shape than the ones I have.  Do you happen to have a good pair you wouldn't mind parting with?

You want to be extra careful these days when relining brakes and clutches. The so-called brass rivets they are selling now are actually brass plated steel rivets. I have run into this time and time again and it cost me a set of drums for my IH 500. I kid you not brass plated steel rivets, the rotten buggers playing games. Be sure to check all your rivets with a magnet. Mcmasters Carr has tubular Brass rivets and so does Caterpillar but check them anyway.      Tad

James, Don't know where you're at with this. The 11B SERIES and the 12G were the same. Should be part #70650328. Are yours worn down to where the grove is gone? Checked the tolerance? We have some of those in "donor tractors" I would part with, but don't have time to take out now. I just spoke with Chuck, parts manager at Arnold Tractor in Colusa,Ca. they would have some in there parts somewhere. He doesn't know what they would want for them. He knows they were very expensive new, but also knows they didn't sell many used ones. They were an Allis Chalmers dealer until the end. They still have some for parts and work on them for the farmers. That being said they have no 12Gs (or we would have all those parts LOL) They only have direct drive tractors. There phone 530-458-5035

Thanks for the info!  I have been looking for them using that same part number you found for them.  Mine were worn far beyond the grooves in the lining.  One band had worn everything off and the drum had about a 1/4" deep 2" wide groove cut in it!  The other band wasn't as bad but only had about a 1/16" of the lining left before it was down to bare metal.
