I went to a local consignment auction on Saturday. I was looking for prices on some things and seeing what they might have that I could use. They advertised a 185 and a D17. I found the 185 but the D17 must have been a no show.

The 185 was in fair condition. It was a '71 model. It had decent original paint, faded decals, good tin, truck tire fronts and about 50% rears. The seat was pretty much shot, the tach was missing from the dash, and the rear rims had some rust spots. It started and ran well.

It was late morning before it was auctioned and I had thoughts about bidding on it. It would be a little larger than the 170 I have now. I was expecting it to sell for under $5000. The final price was $3250. Darn, I should have bid on it but I am short of shed space and am still not done with my D15.

They had a semi mounted 3 x 16 plow (model unknown) that I could have replaced the JD my dad ran behind the 170. It was in good condition and could have gone to work this spring. I thought about it and it sold for $350.

Just before I left I noticed a small AC in the row of lawnmowers, ATV's, snowblowers, etc. I didn't notice it before because it was in gray primer. It was B in fair condition. The tin was good and almost ready for paint. The tires were average and the seat needed some repair. Most of all of the left brake and linkage were missing. There were wires hanging out in areas. I had entertained the idea of bidding on it but didn't. It went for $650.

That's the one. It was very well attended. It got pretty muddy as the day went on and I was happy to get in my warm, dry truck!!
