Even with the plates slowed down as far as you can, wouldn't the plant density be too high?

You could fill in the extra openings to every other one or every third one or even fourth. Then pull it across some pavement and measure the drop rate.

call Lincoln Ag Products     sales@lincolnagproducts.com
They have the plates and adaptors if you don't have them.

JD has a pumpkin plate that will work, still available threw parts.  But yes you can take a corn plate and fill all the cells but 2 or 3 spaced out. Then grind the cells a little longer to fit a pumpkin seed.  Andy

I used to use a jd planter for pumpkins before I got my vacuum planter.  I got some steel blanks either from the jd dealer or Lincoln, don't remember now.  Ground out slots for different size seeds on different plates.  Changing the sprockets got it turning slow enough to plant on 30" - 36" spacing.

I always wanted to try to set up planer for pumpkins.
We are just using our old new idea transplanter and dropping seed into the opening, works good

Yes that's what I'm afraid of. Even with a 20 cell bean plate and as slow as it will plant it is pretty heavy!

How many acres are you planning on planting?
