Looking for some information on a starter that came off a D 17 diesel.
This is not mine just posting the question for a friend.

Can anyone tell what type it is?
There is no tag on the starter.

Doesn't look like the original starter for the tractor.  The solenoid is mounted under the battery pan, not on the starter itself.

According to my parts book that IS the correct starter for the series 1 D17 diesel!

Diesel had solenoid on starter, gas was under fuel tank.     MACK

Prior to SN 38964, the D17 diesel used this type of starter. Allis 70229649 (Delco-Remy #1113082) as marked on the starter housing.

Delco Unit plunger style. Could be either a 1113082 or an 1113152. If its the early Tractor, probably the 082 version.

My mistake.  Later series diesels have the solenoid on under the battery pan, not the early ones.
