Looking for some information on a starter that came off a D 17 diesel. This is not mine just posting the question for a friend. Can anyone tell what type it is? I would say delco looks like mine ------------- 1-B's, 2-C, 2-CA's,2-WF, 1-WC,1-G, 3-WD's, 2-WD45, 1-RC, 1-D17 Diesel, 1-D14, 2-D15,1-D17 row crop,1-D19 gas and All Crop 40,60,66,72,90 and 100 |

Doesn't look like the original starter for the tractor. The solenoid is mounted under the battery pan, not on the starter itself.

According to my parts book that IS the correct starter for the series 1 D17 diesel! ------------- 1-B's, 2-C, 2-CA's,2-WF, 1-WC,1-G, 3-WD's, 2-WD45, 1-RC, 1-D17 Diesel, 1-D14, 2-D15,1-D17 row crop,1-D19 gas and All Crop 40,60,66,72,90 and 100 |

Prior to SN 38964, the D17 diesel used this type of starter. Allis 70229649 (Delco-Remy #1113082) as marked on the starter housing. ------------- 1970 190XT, 1973 200, 1962 D-19 Diesel, 1979 7010, 1957 WD45, 1950 WD, 1961 D17, Speed Patrol, D14, All crop 66 big bin, 180 diesel, 1970 170 diesel, FP80 forklift.
