Just wondering what details are in the serial # of my 125 cu. in. A-C. The stamped # is CE 87289 G. I figure the G is for gasoline but CE?? Any info is appreciated - thank you!

CE is just the newer model of engine line that the Bs,Cs, and CAs came out with. Before them was the BE engines. CE engines had a larger bore than the BE engines.

CE = 125 CID. BE = 116 CID

Thanks for the enlightenment, as Steve said 1948 ...it is in my '48 B. Because it has distributor ignition I had wondered if the engine was newer than '48. Obviously someone has switched it from mag ignition along the way as that was not available in that year.
