The slotted one in the back,does the slot need to be turned to the passage way that goes to the outside of the head.The tunnel to the fitting the oil line feeds.
Also besides pre lubing and putting the oil in,what do i need to do about the non primed pump and empty lines.

The slot can end up anyplace it tightens down. The oil comes in below the bottom of the stud.

The way I prime the pump so I can see the oil come thru with my eyes is to remove the filter, place a rubber gas line over the filter stand pipe long enough to extend over the rocker arms. It really is not necessary for it to be that long to work and use a can to catch the oil. I use a squirt can to fill the hose and let it seep down for a few minutes. I then refill the hose and start the engine and let the oil flow out the hose over the rocker arms. I then replace the filter and start the engine and check the gage for a pressure reading.

I normally let it run and let it warm up good, shut it off and re torque the head bolts. then re set the valve lash/clearance.

To prime the pump you really only need to fill the stand pipe without the hose and replace the filter. I just personally like to see the oil flowing before replacing the filter. That way if it for some reason it does not prime I can refill the hose and try again.
