I was wondering if anyone had the model and spec # for the Kohler Command 18HP engine that went in the Agco Allis 918H? I have one of the early TriAd engines that has expired. I would like to get a drop in engine for it. Mine is missing the model and spec decal. Thanks!

That is the same engine that got put in my 917-h,-- and I wish they would have left the original 17 in it!---The 18 is a pain in the a$$ to work on.---engine has to come out to get to anything behind the shrouds! Good luck on yours! lol! thanks; ac fleet

I like the command engines. They have a better lubrication system than the old cast-iron twins and are much lighter to move around when working on them. I will admit I really do like the sound of the cast-iron KT-twins in the older ACs.

Tag on to this older conversation....I have a 918 AGCO that has a dead Kohler Triad...Have a couple of Vanguard 18hp and wonder where to get install/conversion kits.. Is this a viable way to go?? Or is rebuilding the Triad possible..Thanks....Dale

The early Triads usually died when they dropped a sleeve from overheating. The overheating was commonly caused from valve cover leaking oil, then the grass/dust stuck to it plugging the fins. I don't know if any parts are available other than maybe used. You might try Small Engine Warehouse for components to repower with B&S Vanguard. Don't get rid of spacer under engine as that is needed for some repowers.
