I posted this over at the classified section but decided I might get a better response here. I bought this 200 tractor at an estate sale where the previous owner had overhauled the engine and then installed a new aftermarket tach. That tach lasted 187 hours. My brother bought the 180 at the same sale which I believe has a recent overhaul also and it too has an aftermarket tach that quit at just over 300 hours. No idea where either original tachometer ended up. Probably sold in one of the many boxes on one of the hay racks. Those two aftermarket tachometers convinced me that I do not want one of those new ones. should be part# 70255036 according to the parts book. I need one that shows both 1000 and 540 pto speeds which they may all do that for all I know. I am not interested in one of the new aftermarket tachs. Would like a good original or an original that can be rebuilt. Lonn, I checked what I had and these 2 are all I can come up with. Boy I don't know. I wonder what they fit and if they'll read right. The one with the 540 pto mark isn't right for either the 200 or 180 as far as the 540 line goes. I don't know if this kit might help you, it's from AGCO and it is a replacement kit for a long list of Allis tractors. I picked this up for a customer and he didn't take it so I'd make someone a deal on it. I have more pics of it too. I was going to put it on my D19 and it's just been sitting here drawing dust.

I'm really looking for an original at this point, but thanks for your input. Don, I remember putting those on a couple 190's back in the early 1990's. Now I don't remember a drive assembly. The ones I remember were all electric and hooked into the alternator some how, going on memory here. They were finicky to calibrate.

You are right about the older kits that replaced the cable drives that mounted on the back of the alternator, this kit it a newer kit and didn't need that type sender you are thinking about that replaced factory alt drive for a cable system, this kit mount's in the tachometer drive for the cable on the back of alt or go's in the block of some of the engine model tachometer drive asy. so one kit covered all the models listed above, they worked good and not hard to set like the older sender you are thinking about. Lonn, I do know of an aftermarket one you can get that is reliable. Problem is it doesn't look right or have the pto rpms on it. Otherwise you can get an original out of salvage yard and have it rebuilt. Hope this helps. Jim ------------- An open eye is much more observant than an open mouth |
