| I have an AC 185, I just found a 3ph backhoe attachment, but it works off of the tractors hydrualics. Do you think I will have any problems running it with a 185??? |

I've been running one with my D14. I had to run a return line, but other than that everything worked fine.

I have a Long 1099. It came with a PTO pump that was rated at 20 gpm, made control the the hoe difficult because it moved too fast at full valve. After that leaky pump was filched one winter I mounted a 5 gpm pump on the front of the engine crankshaft and operation was much nicer. Later I added ports with a flow restriction valve for loader and back hoe to my 4020. On either tractor its important to run a chain to anchor the back hoe on the three point down to the drawbar because its hard to dig without the tractor weight to hold the backhoe down. The three point only holds it up, but will let it rise rapidly. On the 4020 I plumbed the added hydraulic manifold with a female connector for pressure and a male connector for return so there's no question which goes where and when not in use the two ends on the back hoe are connected to stay clean. This picture only shows the pressure side. I had to change the valves on the back hoe to closed center to work with the 4020.  Gerald J. |

I have been debating a 3 point backhoe but have been warned against them from a friend who is a big ford 800 serries guru. He showed me two broken rearend one day from fords that had 3 point backhoe setups. His comment is they work good if your are reasonable with them but for the price of a 3 point you can probably buy a older backhoe which will take more abuse. So the result for me is confusion. My pasquali 988 was broken and welded back together by the last owner who used a 3 point backhoe so I know I don't want to put one on that tractor. Just what I have seen but I can tell you the broken ones came from places with lots of big rocks so they where probably abused. |

| Do not really intend to abuse it, have had this tractor along time and plan to pass it on. Was just wondering if the hydrualics would handle it and what would have to be done to make it work or if I would be just as well to go find a pto pump and plump it off the pto. The price of the back hoe is very reasonable if he has not sold it in the last 5 hours. |

I have seen them used with no problem, and used with problems. I know a guy who had one of a JD70 and broke a cast hub. I have an uncle with a JD60 and a little hoe and he's had no trouble, But he's only used it a few times to dig some water lines. Another un le had one on a Deere 4520. Those 4520's are very heavy and he never had probably. He never abused or used it on the 4520 a LOT. If you want it for light occasional use you might be ok. A 185 isn't a very heavy tractor so don't get a hoe that's too big for it. I think chaining to the drawbar could cause more stress, then just letting the 3pt raise up. If you really want to dig a lot or tear out trees and things, get an actual backhoe. |

| As to the hydraulics yes they will have plenty of pressure if anything the flow rate might be a little low but that would only make it slower depends on how big the cylinders are. But I won't worry about the hydraulics |

I used my father-in laws 3pt backhoe on a 190xt really worked good i could slide the XT around pretty easy with it with the down riggers down but I never thought about chaining it to the draw bar that would of really helped. The hydraulics on the 190 had alot of power. It worked alot better on the XT than it did on his 4620 JD. ------------- turbocharged |
