I have to service my neighbors 7080. So I guess a service would be the same from one to the other? Thanks for any input.

Do they both have the bypass oil filter? The 7080 does, just not sure if the 7060 does.

My '80 7060 has the bypass or 3rd engine oil filter, but not the filter shown in the manual under the cowl. Doesn't the 7080 have a different engine than the 7060 which would make for different filters needed?

Both are 426 engines....one I just more prone to blow up than the other

The key to make a 7080/7580 engine last, is to replace the front dampener on a regular basis. We would also have the pan dropped, and check the rod bearings.

I've heard 7060 is a really good tractor, and 7080s tend to blow up. Or grenade the tranny/rear end. Too much power.

We had both, both were good tractors, the 7080 just needed a little more "cuddle time".

7580 and 7080 were ticking time bombs....worst tractors Allis ever built...spun them too fast and they wouldn't last...7060 is a much better tractor than either the 7080 or 7580

We had a 7080 new. When it left here, it had 2700 hrs on it. The only thing we ever did to it besides change oil, was replace a fuel line between 2 injectors. Just because they would run 2800 didn't mean you should. Always run 2200 rpms. It was a great tractor. Still running strong not far from here.

tranny/rear ends on both were as good as if not better than any other built at the time IMO.

Imo premature engine failure on a 7060/rear end failure would be a sever lack maintince or using it as a 250 hp tractor. 7080 well yes they turned to fast however it's all in how you used them and lugged them. Pulling a plow wide open and hoppin out of the furrow and letting her scream.....your gonna have problems, just as every other tractor bolt 30+ years ago.

We had a couple of 7080's, one had 9500, and the other had 10,500. Never had an engine failure, or a rear end failure. Every 3,000 hours we would bring them into the shop, drop the oil pan, and check bearings. While we were at, pull the rear end housing, and check the differential carrier. Like I said earlier, they were as good as anything else, just needed a little more "cuddle time". Did the same thing to the 7580 as well.

So on the left side of the motor there is a large screw on filter. It is painted the engine color so is this a third oil filter for the engine?

Follow the lines to be sure but I bet it is. My manual shows an oil filter under the cowl but my 1980 7060 does not have it.
The spin on bypass filter I have must be aftermarket or something, even the diagram on agcopartsbook.com shows the under cowl bypass filter.

Cdreb, that is an engine oil filter. I'm not sure if it was factory or added. My 7060 has one on it, but my 7040 or 7080 don't. My 7080 had the luber finer under the cowl but I did away with it when I overhaul it. My 7060 or 7040 don't have the luber finer.

The screw on filter replaces the one under the cowl. It's your by pass filter. Suppose to change it every other oil change, but we usually change it everytime.

The luber finer under the cowl is factory on 7060 and 7080 both.
There is a factory update kit that routes it over to the LH side of the engine and converts it to a spin on element. I dont have the part number handy, but it was a factory kit. IDK what year they started offering it.
