We just picked up this H3 (litterly picked up) for our Allis Chalmers tractor collection. The previous owner ran it out of water and fried it. He took it to somebody that new somebody that new somebody else that could work on it. After 2 years he went and claimed all the parts back. All the engine parts have rusted almost beyond recognition. We think it will be easier to start with another engine. The serial# is 3127 which indicates it to be 1961. Hoping someone knows where there might be some parts here in N.Ca.

That would be the same motor that is in a D15 gas, a 149cid. They used them in other things besides tractors also like generators and water pumps.

Kipn, thanks for your reply, yes we're always looking for AC farm equipment for our collection to. Our biggest resource area is the Sacrameto valley here in N.Ca. Our problem is if we find something to complete we don't want to dissmantle it for parts we're going to save it until we find the one missing part to fix it (you no the one part that this planet is out of), but it's fun lookin

Kip, The engine in an H3 has a fuel pump on them, so if you get on too steep up a hill you won't run out of gas. The D15 engines do not have the opening for the pump. By the looks of the block in the photo it looks like it would be perfectly good to use.

Bruce,
The serial number is on the left hand side of the torque tube near the engine - just like on the D series tractors.  It is just stamped in the casting, not an actual plate.  Heavy paint or years of dirt and or battery acid can make it impossible to see.  It should start with H3, followed by some more numbers.
