| I'm trying to decide if I should get another tractor to hook up a 300 to 500 gallon sprayer to. If I were to do this what would you guys recommend as a good tractor to use? We are non certified organic. So we would just be spraying non chemical things if that factors into any ideas. |

| Would probably be an overkill for what you have in mind, but my 7580 was my most favorite spraying tractor that I ever used. But I was pulling 1,000 gallons and 100 foot booms. Darrel |

Depends on your budget, type of sprayer(pto or hyd drive pump), anything from a D-17 to 6080 with a cab and air-condition. Leon B ------------- Uncle always said "Fill the back of the shovel and the front will take care of itself". |

| Really depends on how many acres and what application rate your using. We use a CIH 8910 with a 1800 gallon trailer sprayer with 100' booms. We can't get into smaller fields with it. But most fields are 1/2 mile square. For the smaller fields an old dodge pickup with a slide in unit with 50 foot booms works fine. For fields that get sprayed once a its Cheeper to get the elevator to do than keep a tractor for once around the field.A Row Gator can cover a quater section in an hour all in one trip and travels 40 mph to the field. |

| We use a 7040 on the sprayer 500 gallon 60ft boom with hydraulic pump works great, once you get the hydraulic flow set it maintains the same sprayer pressure regardless of engine speed. Probably overkill on hp but it works, 18.4 tires or smaller work good on 30 inch rows. |

We use to use the WD45 but now I use a single front wheel D17 on a 300 gallon pull type sprayer. Any standard narrow front works in 30" rows the narrower the rear tires the better. If you're going to spray corn or other tall crops then you need either a high clearance tractor or start looking at self propelled (hi boy) sprayers like an old Hawn or Hagie. ------------- AGCO My Allis Gleaner Company |

You are hung up on your 7000! A 6080 uses a fraction up the fuel and is much more nimble. We have both been their done that. When we had a pull type sprayer our 6080 played with a 650 gallon sprayer. ------------- 8030 and 8050MFWD, 7580, 3 6080's, 160, 7060, 175, heirloom D17, Deere 8760 |

| I bought an old Hagie high boy 4 wheel drive with 500 gallon tank and 60 ft booms, used it for years, worked well and only paid $1500. for it. then I had to change the nozzels once, and that cost me over $600 just for the spray tips! whew! I've sold it already, went to a veggie farm in the south! if you have hills and go this way, DON'T get a 3-wheel unit! they tip to easy on side hills. might try for a older "spray Coupe" see a lot of them on auctions, but never paid attention to the prices! they're the ones that look like an airplane cab without the prop! thay are a lot lower to the ground than a high boy! |

| I would pick a 185 with dual PTO or a 6080. For most jobs around the farm today it is almost a must to have the 540/1000 rpm pto. Also the hydraulics of a D17S4 or better is a must. |

We use a 175 with a 500 gallon demco and works perfect for our use even on a hill and it has a hydraulic pump on the sprayer ------------- If fishing is a sport your looking at an athlete |
