My friend and fellow Lutheran church member, Larry Strubbe, was killed yesterday afternoon on his farm. He had gone out to cut down a tree and when he did not return home to get ready for Sat. night church services they went looking for him. Larry and I have served together as the two ushers for the Sat. night services for over 10 years. The tree he was cutting down fell on him and he was killed. He was 80 years old but in very good shape. He leaves behind a wife of almost 60 years, a daughter and 3 sons + grandchildren. He was an AC man. Some of you that came to Jacksonville, Il. for The Gathering of the Orange at Prairie Land Heritage Museum in 2002 may have visited the old style AC dealership north of Jacksonville, Il. The owner of the AC dealership is Donna Moody and Larry was her brother. Prayers and well wishes to and for the family are welcomed. Rodney

Prayers to the family.  God bless.

Dad was badly injured doing the same.  Cut tree on edge of creek bank so not much room to get away from tree as it started to fall.  It split and caught dad as it went down and pitched him onto the ice on the frozen creek.  He somehow crawled up the creek bank and got onto the tractor with a broken collerbone and broken ankle.  Mom made him sell the wood stove after that.
