Would a 653 be the right size to scrap out a path/road or would I need something bigger?

Thanks & God Bless

Plenty power and size for normal stuff. I would want to take out 2-3 foot diameter trees with it, but it will. HTH Tracy

right size machine depends on the time you have to spend and the material you want to move ... You can do the job with a shovel or
I used my HD4 mainly for drainfield work and the HD5G for heavier things - though I roughed in many drives and short roads with both.
Remember it is a 40 to 50 HP machine and not made for real heavy material moving in rock or extreme hard soil where a ripper is needed .
