NAPA AUTO PARTS, THE FUEL AND OIL FILTERS ARE BOTH 1010 AND I USE A HOME FUEL OIL FILTER FOR THE PRIMARY FUEL FILTER

for the primary fuel filter I have a 10 micron water filter of the spun poly material - I cut the 10" filter down to get 2 fuel filters from it - the same filter is also used on Trane Centervac compressors used for industrial cooling systems - its a oil filter for them .
I was using a oil filter for a 52 Plymouth 6 cyl engine as it could be found back in the 70' and 80's - Now I use spin on filters PH8A on a bracket I made up

For some reason unknown to me, people try to improve there HD5 and add other filters.Since I am the same age as a HD5 and not around one until my teen years maybe there was a reason to change, but I think the original where Fram canister drop ins same as Ford N series tractors and lots of other stuff. So if they are canister type and hold a quart they are original. C P 1 comes to mind as the old fram number but my rememberer is more like a leaky tank any more.

Mechanic insisted I put spin on filters back in the 83 when engine was over hauled. The bases ended up Ford standard of the time. He had a problem over tightening the top of fuel filter, and it needing a new gasket. But what was done is neat compared to some.

Funny how thinks kinda go in circles as I understand new cars are back to canister filters so you don't pitcher as much metal in the garbage to change filter as a spin on .

the original filters were AC filters as marked on top of cans - but they became hard to find and I searched for one that was about the same size which was the Fram C 3 - I added a washer on top and bottom to help support and hold filter onto rod .
Reason now for the backwards move is the cartridge is easy to crush - extracting any materials that do not meet guidelines for disposal in landfills or burning without special capture ..
