We don't run front weights on any of our big tractors so with the 8050 we decided to build a bumper to fill in the area the weights would go and protect the grill from corn stalks.  It is going to bolt to the weight bracket and house 4x 4.5" led lights (2x spots, 2x floods) which will be on a separate light circuit.  The toggle for the lights is a 3 position (on off on) that fit perfectly in the blank for mfwd switch.  forward on the switch will be the spot lights and trailer lights which I'm adding, middle is off, rear will be all 4 front lights and the trailer lights.  Light circuits will be on relays.

Dave,
Pretty fancy corn stalk guards! Lazer cut to! Damn! Should look nice. What did ya do, take a break from the little Tractors? I like the use of the relays for the lighting. Good move...

grass isn't growing much so i've putting off getting the complete 616 mowing again, we started picking corn the other day so I figured I should finish this.  whenever it rains i'll pull the 616 motor and install the harness I got from you.  I wish I had the laser at home but it is nice to be able to sneak in a piece of government work on a slow day.

Lights look the same as what I got from amazon and put on our tractors. Really cheap and high quality. Though relays are not necessary as LED amp draw is around 4 amps (total for both lights).

Thanks, it's coming along, aesthetically it would of looked better shorter but wouldn't of protected the grill like we want it to.

That is a great idea.. From viewing Norm's book, it appeared that AC's early proposed 7000s styling included grill lights, but were later deleted when final style was decided upon?? I always felt that the 7000s & 8000s needed more front lighting. Now you have it. Good job! And, I love the laser cut AC..

I would of like to carve a shell that would fit the upper grill but I don't like the idea of possibly drilling holes in the screen

I'm going to cut out the mount for the lights and rework it when I have time to try and spread the pattern out a little wider.  These will give you and idea of how bright the lights are.

Pretty eady argument John Deere adopted LED lights in the 2010s and AlLis chalmers was always 30 years ahead

Well finally started playing with this again.  Tacked up the lower extensions last night.  Will pull the whole bumper off soon, finish welding/bracing, then blast and paint it.  The lower extension does match the angle of the grill (100 deg).

I, too, feel like there should have been a set of lower lights out front on the 8000 series. You have kind of hit a home run here. Looks good. Darrel

It's functional, I just need time to pull it back off and finish welding it.  We have had the lights working and use it since I first started the thread.
