Apparently, the previous owner of one of my B's forgot to tighten the wrist pins. Two of them made their way to the side and scored the sleeves. She was smoking REALLY badly. I had some extra sleeves from another tractor and dropped them in over the weekend. Just for insurance, I checked all the wrist pins and good thing--they were ALL loose. I tightened everything down, buttoned her up and she ran like a champ (without smoke). Nice to be able to reuse parts. All it cost me was a head gasket. Steve, Nice work getting this B going back in the right direction! Its going to be a nice one with the adjustable front end. Nice to have some spare parts for a new project. Thanks Chris. She's a Yankee restoration. Nothing fancy, just working properly. Charlie, I pulled the tie rod, then slid the front end forward about 1 inch to drop the pan from the front. Those two back pan bolts are really hard to put on! |
