Anyone KNOW if a gas Buda 6 cylinder from a Cockshutt 40 will 'drop in  replace' the Buda 4 cylinder 153 in my FPD50 series forklift?
I can get the whole tractor ,running for $2000.hate to scrap a good tractor but I just need an engine.

Dang Fall is here, soon Winter and the forklift don't like cold weather(low compression)

I don't KNOW, but it seems like the 6 cylinder is going to be several inches longer then the four.  Is there extra space in the engine compartment?  Would it be easier to rebuild the original engine?

Hay John, well the 6 won't fit it unless you push really, really hard though it was an option(maybe the frame is bigger ?)
I was quoted $5000 to rebuild it AFTER I deliver it to the rebuild shop.
Frankly I don't have a spare 5 thousand  to rebuild the diesel....
It needs rings( bad blowby, low power) BUT my xray eyes can't tell if it needs the 3 ring kit or the 4 ring kit, so a total sleeve/rings/piston,orings 'kit' X4 is one choice but at $400 per cyl that adds up...oh yeah 4 CDN bux buys 3 USD, and that HURTS
Now I found an nonrunning CS30 nearby but at $1500 it's a pricey gamble too...hate to scrap a nice tractor just for an engine ...
open to all ideas..
latest one...put two engines in, 16HP for drive and 16HP for hydraulics. It's possible,got the room,less than $1000 ?
sigh....
double sigh.....
