How does one go about getting the spacer off of the pump shaft? It has been on there a day or two and doesn't want to come off. Do I dare use heat?

Sometimes those can be an absolute bitch. Plenty of penetrating oil, heat and beat, and I use a very thin screwdriver or stiff putty knife driven between the pulley and spacer.

Have a helper hold a heavy block on one side while you use a dull chisel on other side.  p MACK

I use a 20 ton press with a split bearing puller behind the spacer, keep tightening the bolts on the bearing puller halves as it goes.

It is off. I used heat and little by little, she came off the end.
