Going to purchase a Case 8465 round baler and not sure if I should run it on the 190xt or the 7045.

My opinion is the 7045 or something with a cab and AC if you will be baling anything dusty like clover, alfalfa, etc. Also, I believe that's a pretty good size baler and if you have some hills you will appreciate the bigger tractor.

Cab and Air.....although the 190 is my favorite tractor, I would be driving the 7045.

Don't forget the wet clutch for all that stopping.  7045.

I have a 7060 (close enough to 7045 for comparative purposes) and a one ninety XT. We run the XT on the baler for the fuel economy of it, and for the hand clutch; don't have to sit there with your foot on the clutch while the bale is tying. I've threatened several times to put the 7060 on the baler cause I'm getting soft in my old age, but the kid insists that the XT stay on it. The XT is a way more nimble tractor, and I've never had a power problem with it, even baling in the hills. We don't usually bale in the heat of the day, so lack of AC is not too big of an issue. I do plan on putting AC in it though, along with a bunch of new weather stripping and some acoustic foam. When I get that stuff done to it, it will really be the ideal baling tractor. I put 38 inch rubber on the back of it a few years ago, so there is plenty of clearance for windrows to go under it. A few years ago, I went and helped a neighbor bale one night. He had a pretty new tractor, with a forward/neutral/reverse shuttle on the column, and was telling me how much he liked it for baling, because he didn't have to sit there with his foot on the clutch while bales were tying. I showed him that I could do that with my 45 year old tractor also. I kept up with him bale for bale all night long. Darrel

Darrel has good points too. guy we buy cows off of has a 200 and a 7060. he likes the 200 for baling because of the hand clutch and fuel economy, but he still uses the 7060 for the A/C!

Like I have said before I have a Heston 560. Almost the same as yours just older. I use a 190xt for one reason.....it's the only big tractor I have. But even at that I have never been short on power and I love the hand clutch for when tying. Since the baler does everything it's a nice time to get a drink of water or just take in the scenery. Once I get the green light I just pull the clutch back in and away I go! I bale alfalfa with my setup and even in heavy first crop I bale in third high side and the tractor never struggles. Love this setup just wish I had either a canopy to keep the sun off or a good cab to do that and keep the dust off.

gerkendave, Here's an idea for you that dad did for a canopy on his XT:
Weld a pipe on a 1/4" flat stock and bolt it on the fender on each side.
Drill a hole, 1/4" or 5/16" in the pipe before you weld it on the flat stock and weld the appropriate nut size on it to screw in a bolt and hold the post of the canopy bracket. HTH.
