Question: our 5' 3 point bush / brush hog has seen better days.

Will our D-15 series 2 handle a 6 foot hog? Weight and shaft HP wise? Does fine with the five foot.

Depends completely on what you are cutting. Most things my 15 would be fine. Tall grass would be too much.

You don't have to take a full 6' cut

I used a very tired D15II SC on a 5' A-C brush cutter (3-pt. and I use A-C adaptors) and it was used to take down up to 2"+ trees when initially clearing my place. Bought a name brand 6' cutter (SQ72) that shows to weigh just over 1100# and she runs it fine. Front end can get a bit light and I run tall rear tires but they are nicely sized for each other, even when used in 6' tall grasses/brush on mowing jobs.
Just keep that 160ci wound up to full or near full throttle and I cut 12 hour days in 2nd, low range on the PD without issues.

I would say yes, it will handle it weight wise.  If you are going through thick sh!t, just take a partial cut...
