My C had welded blocks on the rims, so I don't know how the stock wheel works. I just bought all the correct pieces to make it original. Could someone show me a picture and give me a description of how these eccentrics are supposed to work? Thanks. |

You should have 2 eccentrics and 2 straight holes. If the wheel center is on the tractor I put the 2 straight holes on the center at about 10 and 2 oclock and hang the rim on them, then put the eccentrics on at the 8 and 4 oclock positions and tighten them up. ------------- Waukesha B, B, IB, G, styled WF, D15, 615 backhoe, 2-Oliver OC3's, 4 Ford Model T's, 3 Model A Fords, AV8 Coupe, AV8 Roadster, 1933 Ford Wrecker |

Be sure to line up the valve stem with a notch in the wheel. The eccentrics have a cross on them, when the short end points toward the rim the pressure is off. When you turn them 180 degrees they get tight. If rim is worn a lot, you may have to put shims under the 4 locks to keep the wheel on. I have seen things worn so bad that even using 4 eccentrics per wheel the rim is still loose on the wheel. That may be why somebody welded your old wheel lock blocks. Parting out as many old Bs and Cs as I have one sees lots of farmer engineering fixes to keep and old worn out tractor in the field. I pulled down a engine once that had strips of aluminum Schlitz Beer cans backing up the rod bearings. Axle splines so loose that the farmer hammered square cut nails in the gaps to tighten them up. I have two refridge metal pans full of used wheel locks and bolts. Most I kept are almost good as new. And to think my best friend paid somebody on the internet $50 for one block for his IB because he didn't feel like asking me for just one. I would have givin him a whole set had he just asked. How about a D14 with the crank pully dirt dobber welded to the crankshaft. |

| This where it pays to get an operators manual. Although the descriptions above are spot on, a manual give a very well written procedure ans well as pictures. Not to mention a wealth of other information on your tractor. |

| On most of the B/C rims I see there are two small square stop blocks welded next to one of the 4 bumps. A plain non eccentric lock goes there. Have not seen dowels for stops yet. |

| I never could understand why AC used the eccentrics wheel to rim locking system. Modern tractors just use plain bolts thru flanges welded to the rims lined up with matching holes in the wheels. I'm running 12 x 24 Jap rims bolted directly to D10 stamped steel wheel centers on my CA. Don't see why Jap rims won't bolt up to a B or C wheel center. Tractor salvage yards usually have a good selection of used 24" jap rims in different widths. New 4 bumps are not a cheap fix for rotten 4 bumps. |
