Location sometimes determines more on price, than anything else, where are you located?  I see Almond, but no state or country...Wink

Located in Almond wisconsin. I'm looking at a case 580. Just stuck about  $1000 in parts, into the shuttle on this tractor. She has a great perkins engine. The leaks and no cab, along with . it's getting hard to find parts . is the reason I'm selling her

A good question to ask yourself, given that you know the specifics you mentioned: How much would I be willing to pay for this machine?? What is good for the goose is good for the gander. I'd say if anyone offers you $5000 take the money and head to the bank. I've owned two 816's and I'm familiar with their strong and weak points. They are getting to be around 50 years old depending on the serial#. You can always advertise it for more and see what happens.

that is what I'm thinking. list a little high and see how things shag out. There lot of loader backhoes around here for $8500. And have been for sale for a long time.  I would not pay that for them because of age. They are getting hard to get parts for. And they are not a tractor where you can't put a plow on when not digging. So you have big dollars just sitting

Son looked at one several years ago. Pump was weak. He couldn't find pump repairs. Man wanted $4500.00 for it. I just ask him about it a couple of weeks ago. He says the guy still has it sitting at his house.

Finding parts for the major components on the 816 is not that hard as most of them are famous brands, it may take a bit of searching. The bigger concern I have is the $$ invested once you're finished and how much of that can you expect to recover after the offset of actual use??

the pump for the steering is very hard to find, ended up finding new parts. For the loader back hoe pump. it is cheaper to go with a Cessna pump. Think it is about $800. To put something like this back into a commercial use back hoe would not be worth a persons time. As most old equipment. You might come out ahead buying for $4500 and upgrading the pump. Or flipping the machine.

Looked at 2 different 816 machines back in the 80's and passed on them one was $6000 but when taking it out on road it jumped out of 4th gear and pons and bushing worn on backhoe. Other was $8500 and had ROPS but not full cab - dealer had it - offered $7000 after running it some as few thingsI seen as problems and also the fact size of machine is a little more than most people need for work I was doing. Yard and 1/4 to 1 1/2 bucket and overall size doing septic work is aittle big on small lots.
Found my 715B with extenda hoe and 1 yard bucket for $8000 and worked great .
Now if you were closer I might bite or delivered but it probably would be a insult to say here what I would pay . Not a lot of them around even to start with to find parts, and they are a big machine that was made for big work, and now I am not loading trucks from pit so that job isn't needed .

Please let us know how you make out selling it. This is a slow season for action on the sale of old iron. When spring comes around people make plans, get motivated and interested in buying what's available. Wish you success - Eric.

Congratulations on selling it! I know the feeling... it's like parting with an old friend... almost like a funeral, you rehearse the good memories and try to forget the bad ones Cry
