My 8070 power shift was being used on the auger cart this fall when the guy operating it said it pulled down while loading on the go when he pushed in the clutch the rpms came back up and it ran fine. A couple days later he was driving across the field empty when it did it again, same thing he stopped and the rpms came back and it ran fine. We checked the fuel system, air filters and what ever else we could think of.
The guy that usually runs the auger cart had to leave early, so someone with a lot more experience was running the tractor. He said I think you have a problem 3rd and 4th gear, when the tractor pulls down it's not losing power it's like the transmission is binding up and pulling the tractor down. About that time the hydraulic filter light started coming on and now it just stays on. I haven't run it much since then. So any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

The hydraulic filter light shouldn't have anything to do with a problem in the transmission. Are you sure that it wasn't the transmission filter light? If so,look at the filter for any signs of debris.

Change both fuel filters. Our semi started to act up in higher gears. A filter did the trick. Best of luck and what is the S.N. of your 8070?

Is the shift cable working (adjusted) properly?
Almost sounds like its not in the detents on the valve body fully... Barring that the trans is ok. Otherwise, I suspect something in the shift valve? |

I would drain oil, remove suction screen and check for metal in screen and on screen cover.
Let it idle in park and shift through all speeds. RPMs should stay the same through all six speeds. R will pull it down some. MACK |
