I have the rim on a rear tire that is somewhat rotted out around the valve stem hole.  Is it possible to section out a piece and replace?

I cut the patch from a WD rim that was too far gone. After the patch was welded in, I then heated the area where the valve stem goes through and recreated the flat spot. Then drilled the hole for the stem.

if its a 38" rim,, ya might check the center pivot places for a wrecked wheel, usually the centers are what is bad on them and the stem hole is good, cause they don't run calcium, cut a section and weld it in,,,I jus done this on a 38" spin out wheel,, works good
