Has anyone thrown these cams into a bed of red hot coals and then took them out and they were loose? I just sprayed them but I read somewhere they loosened them up by throwing them into a fire? Sounds easier than beating them and spraying them? Im looking for input on the easiest way to loosen them up, I already have them off the center ready to start the process, Thank you

Also did that with a set from a D14. Left them in the air tight wood stove over night. Things started to loosen up after that. |

I have loosened 24 of them but never tried putting them in the fire. I have used oxy/acct torch to get them red and then loosening the eccentric.
Good luck, they do get stuck tight! Regards, Chris |

If you have a Weber Kettle, just start it up with plenty of charcoal and throw them in it over night. Works GREAT!! I have done it several times. I have a bunch I need to do one of these days. Easiest and fastest way to do it!

I have got 8 out of 12 to work by pounding them back and forth in a vise
with pb blaster the other 4 im going to have to cook LOL! but the weber trick is an excellent idea.. I will give that a go as the other non respectful cams will not budge even after 3 days in pb blaster! Thank you so much for the ideas!!I will let you know the outcome.. |

Wow, I'm starting to feel really, really lucky. The spin-outs on my WD haven't been used for more than 20 years. A couple months ago I needed to move 1 wheel out about an inch for clearance on something. I thought that this may be a BIG JOB. I got a 1/2 inch drive socket and breaker bar and give it a try. NO PROBLEM. The spin-outs broke loose pretty easy and we moved the wheel and tightened them with very little trouble. I was amazed. After seeing this post, I'm feeling very lucky too.

Hey I had to Ice down my shoulders after pounding and spraying these cams so yes count your blessings!! I believe my last resort is the weber method besides that frees up my hands to pour some drinks while it cooks LOL!!! Instead of flipping burgers I will be flipping cams..
