I'm wanting to change all of the respective fluids/filters on the D17 that I recently purchased.  Please offer suggestions if I have anything wrong below.  Thanks roger

226 Gas Engine, 6 qts 10W30  Valvoline the best bet?
Power Director/Hydraulic Fluid  26 qts,  Type A (DexronIII) or 821 Hydraulic oil?
Transmission 24qts, SAE80
Final Drives 1 qt each, SAE80
Power Steering 5qts, Type A  (Dexron III)

any 10-30 quality oil for engine.Finals stay with 80-90 or 85-140. Use 821 or equivalent hydraulic/transmission fluid for PD/trans/hydraulics and Dexron is common in P/S. 821 will work there also.
I thought the ser 4 ran the P/S off the hyd pump.Older units whch had seperate pump up front for P/S used Dexron from factory I think but not  sure. The 58 model I just worked on had Dexron.

Series IV has a belt driven pump for the steering.  I use Dexron in my tractor.

D17 Fluids Followup, Input requested.

Went to the dealer this morning and purchased almost $300 dollars worth of fluids/filters. I consider it an investment.   Manual for the Series IV says 26qts for the hydraulic/power director resevoir.  However, there was probably only 14 that drained out.  I know that shouldn't be the standard but the loader had no issues of raising/lowering before the fluid change.  I ask for two reasons, first dealer told me (after reading from a DeutzAllis chart on wall) that PD/Hydraulic resevoir only took 10 qts on the series IV.  When I showed him 26 from the manual, he looked on his computer and then confirmed that amount.  Secondly, manual said 5 qts power steering fluid, but after about 4 1/8 quart of DexronIII, the ps resevoir overflowed.  SO, was the manual known for misprints/errors?  Is it 26 qts for the PD/Hydraulic?  I've put in 14qts so far, and the dipstick is beginning to register.  I'm planning on adding a quart or two at a time until the dipstick registers full, but would like some input from some experts out there.  Btw, I've put in 22qts of 821 transmission fluid so far, as the manual calls for 24.

Thanks!  Roger

Theres two drain plug for the PD and hyd.  One is on the bottom of the sump that the pump sucks from.  The other is on the foot clutch side.
