I'm in the process of getting parts lined up to build the motor for my wd. It will be build with a wd45 crankshaft. I'm not sure on the liner kit yet, whether to go with a d-17 liner kit or go with an original wd 45 kit. I'm thinking about sending in a camshaft to have reground. Have any of you done this, and has anyone had them grind one for a little more performance in mind? I'm just curious to hear thoughts on this matter. Thanks, Kevin.

Crane Cam is who I used. I gave them the piston size, stroke and the RPM,S I wanted to run.  I was happy with the results.

Another question i have is if i get a performance cam grind would it be a good idea to do a little porting to the cylinder head and intake manifold?

That is something I do to all my heads even it I put the old cam back in. If you want to ask the most of your engines you need to make it as easy for them as possible. Making the air flow restrictions as slight as you can will  only help.

Thanks dick. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of some of your porting work do you?

Theres not much difference in the cam doctor grinds from one place to another . If a company is willing to listen to your build and not just go with a shelve cam doctor grind it may be worth doing . Especially if they can splatter the pattern.find someone who was grinding in the 50s era for four cylinders like minis ,mgs and such.
