Driving a Chevy 2500 is the right truck, only it should be a Duramax.

At first I was going to comment on Trailer Load Distribution, then I seen the G had been added in the 2nd picture.

I would agree about 'not wearing Orange'

Even pulling a 20,ooo lb trailer loaded to 20,ooo with a 3/4 ton is asking for trouble some where down the road .

Based on what? The sticker on the door?

Never mind that there's absolutely no difference beteween most 3/4 and 1 ton srw trucks today other than the registration sticker.

But hey feel free to tell us how wrong we are!

Btw the sticker on my 2012 on f250 psd says I'm within truck capacities with a 21,000 lb goose neck. Routinely pull 30000 lb of hay bales and trailer all over with out issue...not even close to being over on axel or tire ratings either.

That's exactly right, John. We all overload the trucks. Oh yea, they will pull a lot more than they say they will, but stopping is a whole nother story. Electric trailer brakes help a little, but not so much when you REALLY need them. The next trailer I buy will have electric over hydraulic brakes. Much more dependable system.
As far as brand of truck, they make different brands for a reason. I have always had better luck out of Ford trucks than Chevy. A lot of guys have better luck with Chevy or Dodge. It's all in what you are used to and like.
But in reality, now a days, I would say none are better than the others. But it is still fun to poke fun at each other! LMAO!!

My Dad's 1996 Ford F-350 is a little squirrelly. With no load and going up a slight hill, I can floor the gas and it doesn't accelerate!
For instance, if I'm going 55 when I get to the hill, then when going up the hill I floor it, nothing happens until I start going down the hill. Phffft!!

Fred...dunno what the GVW is on her truck or past trucks, but it's a 40 ft gooseneck 8-horse trailer with a tack room and dressing room, and hay modual on the top. triple axle. that trailer really needs a 2-ton to pull it! she has another trailer that's 30 ft tandem axle 6-horse, I pulled that dang thing loaded all the way to Scottsdale AZ before I knew there wasn't any brakes on it! whew! it was a sweaty drive back to Nebraska knowing that! lol

I will have to admit that the duramax Allison combination makes for a darn nice setup but I remember when I got my first 7.3 diesel in 97 the only option Chevy had was a 6.5l. That really was no comparison.

Well all I can say is, The Duramax/Allison has a much better track record than the Fords of that era. Now I know someone will come on here and tell us all how great there 6.0 ford is....... after they spent 8-10000 on upgrades to make it reliable, 6.4's weren't any better, just cost more to work on.

I am still trying to figure out where the L Gleaner is. :)

I bet there is an I missing in the title..... :)

That said, I might as well dive in, GM all the way! I own a couple, and the most expensive one cost 2500 bucks, and I trust them over Donner Pass and back at a couple tons over factory recommended tow ratings. :) almost all of mine are the "lowly" 6.5L diesel, but backed up with a 5 speed manual.

Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine.

If you need parts for your Gleaner, we are parting out A's through L2's, so we may be able to help.
