Our 715 started making a grinding sound in 3rd gear last fall. As we kept using it, it got to where it was doing it in 1st and 2nd also. 4th gear was fine, didn't make any noise at all. Today I decided to take out the tranny and see what was going on. 1st,2nd and 3rd gear were all in good shape but 4th was a mess. The teeth were ground off from the front of the case, leaving about a half inch left back by 3rd gear. I'm thinkin when in the first 3 gears there's enough slop in 4th to make the grinding sound. But in 4th there's enough teeth left to make it run smooth. I hope this makes sense just trying to figure out what's goin on. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like box needs to be gone through and check forks are putting gears in proper position

Yeah Coke, I dropped the tranny and found bearings went out on bottom shaft. Found a used tranny and put it in and everythings workin fine. Would you know where to find the parts to rebuild our old one? Torque converter was made by borg warner and I'm assuming tranny was too.

can check if any part numbers might match with truck units used by ford .
might be couple individuals on here that can source parts also either in MI or Canada
also MINNPAR might have lead - bearing should be easy to find .
