I never really noticed, are a lot of '45 engines put in WC's? Of course it is my choice, but is it looked down upon? I would rather have all the parts in the WC block, but both engines run fine. The WC engine would go in the '45 to be a loader/parts tractor. I need to do a clutch and mains, so engines need to come out anyway.

You can upgrade WC block with 45 crank and pistons. You can also use the 45 manifold & carburator, and even the distributor in place of the mag if you choose, but since both engines are in decent shape why not just swap the entire 45 engine into the WC? I would recommend using the 9 spring WD45 clutch. Kip

find a 45 crank core it can even have a bad place in a rod journal as long as the mains will turn out at .030 turn the rod journal to a standard farmall h rod journal . use the 45 powercreater piston 4 1/8 bore mill the piston down to the first ring land either purchase a cam and lifters and valve springs retainers and valves from barney taylor as a kit or have a cam ground to 175 specs and figure out the rest of the valve train on youre own and you will be able to make a honest 70 to 75 horses maybe have the flywheel and front pulley balanced with the crank when worked and it will live at that horsepower and even higher. ps have the block lined bored and honed that old usually has wear in the mains and it gets rid of the shims also.

of coarse you will need four h farmall rods they are a half inch longer than stock allis rods.

a set of rods 100 to 125 four used 400 sbc pistons with a 1.6 pin height 100 crank turned 100 . youre compression ratio will 7.7to 1 flat top pistons if you find some domes might get a tad past 8.1.1. put you into the 53 to 60 hp range . 0948436 |
