When I was a kid my dad bought Chrysler Plymouth cars from Zahns Garage in Gillette Wisconsin and they were an Allis Chalmers dealer, but they closed in the 70's and sold cars untill 2000. There was Lons Imp in Lena, WI that started as Murphys,  my uncle did business with Lons for years but that was out of Allis Chalmers in 1985 when Miller St Nazianz bought it and sold Same tractors, remember seeing my first 720 with a bush hog on the back was about 9 fell in love with it had to have one but that took till I was in my 30's, also saw a 440  that was parked there because Farm Progress was close by, got my first AC cap , Lon had a program where you could trade your old hat(full of cow s##t ) for a brand new AC hat than he hung your old one on the wall, if you went to an auction it was a sea of orange. There also was a dealer in Belle Plain WI , Belle Plain imp, that closed in the late 70's early 80's, there was Kuehne Imp in Seymour WI, they quit selling in the 1990's after the duetz disaster but still reamains open as a service garage, and the lady that was part owner is still at Tesch Imp in Seymour....a weath of knowledge would be an undersatement describing her. There was Daun equipment that became D&D in Chilton they were the largest combine dealer east of the Mississippi till the Duetz disaster, there are Daun, and D&D decals all over the midwest. They sold TONS of 6000-7000-8000 tractors use to order them in 27 at a time, now they are still an agco dealer but there main line is CaseIH, again thanks to duetz. Those are the ones I remember in NE Wisconsin. At one time there was a dealer In Dale , Appleton---Art First, Waupaca, Clintonville, Denmark, but they were closed way before my time.

According to my father, back in the 30's to early 40's there were Allis dealers in Middleton Wi. and between Mt. Horeb and Blue Mounds Wi.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Some VA dealers I know of:

Harman's  in Harrisonburg, VA  an early dealer, granddad bought our '47 WC there and they went out of business I'd say in the '60's.

Valley Implement sales  in Harrisonburg, VA still in business.  Started in mid '60's selling Allis-chalmers and Bobcats.  sold green DA, and then dropped agco line and went with kubota after that.

Louderback Implement in Stanley, VA  still in business.  started in '47 I believe.  New holland dealer today.

There was a dealer in Elkwood, VA sold out about 10 years ago.  Seemed to have a good supply of older AC parts at the auction.

Elkton Tractor  in Elkton, VA  out of business.  Sold AC along with other brands and short lines.  bought our D17 ser. II new from here.  granddad got the trip to Milwaukee in '62.

A dealer in Fairfield, VA out of business.

also, My terra-tiger has a decal with Desper's outdoor power equipment in Charlottesville, VA  I'm not sure what all they sold other than my terra-tiger!

also an interesting note:  I went to Ohio and got some side panels for my 7030 and on the one panel has Huck Creighton's from IL..  as IL gleaner posted... "see huck and save a buck!"

Welcome To Portland Implement
Cashton, WI

Feel free to visit us at our website - www.portlandimplement.com

In 1979 we purchased an existing Allis Chalmers dealership that had been in business for 20 years. The location at the time was in the town of Portland on the corner of CTY RD X and HWY 33.

As business grew, thanks to our loyal customers, so did the need for more space. In 1999, Portland Implement moved to our new location at the intersection of HWY 33 and HWY 27 in Cashton.

We have sold and serviced Allis Chalmers equipment ever since day one, but our product line has grown and we now carry more than 15 different lines. Including AGCO, Bush Hog, Gehl, Great Plains, Kubota, Landoll, Land Pride, Massey Ferguson, and Versatile just to name a few!

In addition to farm implements, we carry lawn and garden equipment, ATV's and Utility Vehicles, accessories and countless parts.

Stop on in we would love to assist you in making your next equipment, accessories, or parts purchase! We are sure you will be impressed by the quality and value of our fine products.

Feel free to stop in and chat, or contact one of our knowledgeable staff members.

We also welcome consignments and trade-ins!

Growing up in Indiana, I only knew of 1 neighbor that owned an AC tractor. I cannot remember ever seeing an Allis Chalmers dealership. I have only seen 1 Agco Tractor and that was a demo that a neighbor was trying, he didn't buy it. I have never seen an Agco dealership. But my 190XT has a decal from H&B in Plymouth Indiana.

An old tractor lover ,Gene Vande Brake  told me that Cambier Bros sold Allis Chalmers out of their GM dealership around 1930 to 1935.  That building is still located on Central St.  in downtown Orange City.  Your 10-40 more than likely came from their dealership.

Foley MN, the building I work in was once a gas station that sold Allis Chalmers. The gas station part lasted longer than the Allis endeavor, and in about 78 the gas station closed and the store has been an auto parts store ever since.  Wruck was the name of the station owners before my employer bought the building, but I do not know the prior history.

I don't have a list for GA, but I do know about these. There was a dealership on North Hospital Road in Sandersville after my Uncle and Dad closed there deapership, but I don't remember the name. It was there when the tractors became Deutz-Allis. I remember the green tractors. There isn't an AGCO dealer anwhere around me. That is strange since AGCO is based in Duluth GA. The tractor in my avatar was sold by my dad, and I got it back.

Anderson Brothers Equipmet, Sandersville GA. (Closed) (Ran by my Uncle and Dad)

Walker Rhodes Equipment, Perry GA. (Now New Holland I think, AGCO parts dealer)

Allis-Chalmers dealers in Arllington (Hancock County) Ohio were Oscar Wolford trading as Wolford Implement Sales--later sold to Merrritt Gehrisch as Gehrisch Implement Sales--then sold to Everett Smith  and doing business as Smith Farm Implement.  The dealers listed encompassed 50 years of business , from 1936-1986.  Fond memories as a kid watching them unload Gleaner combines from railroad flat cars on the Akron, Canton & Youngstown Railway.  Three generations buying and using Orange!
